Sports Betting Bankroll Management
Bankroll management is the process of limiting how much capital is exposed to individual bets and to betting overall. It cannot turn a negative expectation into a positive one, but it can reduce the damage from oversized stakes.
Separate betting money from essential money
Do not use money needed for housing, food, bills, debt payments or emergencies. Set a hard loss limit in advance and do not increase stakes simply to recover a loss.
Think in units
A unit is a consistent fraction or fixed amount used to make stake sizes easier to compare. Smaller sizing reduces volatility but does not eliminate it.
Confidence is not certainty
Model outputs and betting tools can sound precise. Precision in presentation does not remove uncertainty in the underlying event. Pair any research tool with explicit exposure limits.
For the math behind price and edge estimates, continue to expected value.
